[ Mateus Schneider ]

Mateus Schneider (b. 1992) is a Brazilian guitarist and composer from Rio de Janeiro. Deeply influenced by the rich tradition of Brazilian music, he began his career accompanying many bossa nova singers while leading his own jazz trio, where he explored both original compositions and jazz standards.

In 2018, at the age of 26, Mateus moved to Germany to pursue his passion for jazz, completing both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees under the guidance of Werner Neumann at the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre, one of the country’s most prestigious conservatories.

Since then, he has performed widely across Germany and beyond, appearing in various ensembles as well as with his own trio. Alongside his performing career, Mateus teaches guitar at the Conservatory of Altenburg.

In June 2025, he recorded his debut album "Migrações" with his trio. Featuring only original compositions, the album was released in September and is now available on all streaming platforms.
